Chelsea VS Rennes Live

Timo Werner scored two penalties as Chelsea made it three wins on the bounce without conceding when easing past 10-man. Taking over the spot-kick duties from Jorginho, who has missed two this season, the German flashed home both efforts from 12 yards. Dalbert was the culprit for Rennes on both occasions, tripping Werner for the first and then was adjudged to have handled when he knew little about it for the second, which drew a second yellow card for the full-back.

Chelsea played smartly with the extra-man, using the full width of the pitch, and Tammy Abraham grabbed the third when finishing from a fine Reece James cross as Chelsea took control of Group E.

88: Rennes have done most of the pressing late on here. They've actually won the possession count, with 53 per cent of the ball. Chelsea have taken their foot off the gas though.

84: SAVE! And Mendy shows why he's a top shot-stopper. All about concentration. Grenier is set up for a chance from 18 yards and controls a nice finish that calls Mendy into action with a fine save down to his right.

80: Mendy will be keen on keeping his concentration in the final stages here. He's 10 minutes away from keeping a fifth clean sheet in a row. The last time Chelsea achieved that was back in 2010 with Petr Cech in goal.

65: CHANCE!! So close for the hat-trick for Werner. It's another really aggressive run from James down the right and he's spotted by Silva who pings an incredible pass straight into his path. James rolls one across the box for Werner at the back post but Da Silva gets a crucial toe to the ball to divert it away.

48: OFFSIDE! Amazing pass by Jorginho. He spots Abraham in behind with a perfect ball that puts him through on goal. Gomis is out quickly to make a fantastic block but the flag eventually goes up. He was a yard off.

Dalbert technically made himself bigger blocking the shot but there was little he could do when the ball skipped off up his body. Wouldn't be given in the Premier League but is in a UEFA competition. Hmmm....
